Yannis Koutroulis was born in 1966 in Athens.
From 1987 until 1992, he studies painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts masterclass of Elias Dekoulakos and Chronis Botsoglou. He attends engraving courses with the Professor I. Exarchopoulo and hagiography with C. Xynopoulo.
In 1991 he studies painting at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland with the programme ERASMUS.
From 1995 he teaches free Hand drawing in AKTO. Since 2001 works on sets and costumes for the performances of the Municipal Theatre Periaktoi.
